Since 2005, Natchez Little Theater has been proud to sponsor a Summer Youth Work Shop for young people have completed the 4th grade up to the age of 20. The youth who participate in these workshops are involved in all aspects of theatre and the performing arts including: beginner, intermdeiate & advanced acting; auditioning; scene study; vocal performance; dance; stage movement; stagecraft; elocution and public speaking.  The participants perform at the end of the workshop in a production to show off the talents that they have mastered.  The teaching staff is recognized for their skills in their various fields of the performing arts.  Particpants in NLT's Summer Youth Workshop are exposed to diversity; working as a team; improved communication skills and concentration; self-confidence and make life-long friends that become a supportive second family.

These workshops have been recognized and awarded grants from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.  Some of the productions that the Workshop participants have performed in include:  Bugsy Malone, The Hobbit, Into the Woods, Grease, Once On This Island, The Wizard of Oz Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Hairspray.  They also participate in shows throughout the season earning community service hours and learning the importance of community inolvement, support and volunteering their time to improve the quality of life in Southwest Mississippi and East Central Louisiana.  Many of these workshop graduates go on to win Natchez Little Theatre's Dawn Taylor Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded annually to a youth volunteer to aid with the costs of higher education and encourage our young people to stay in school and go on to receive a college education.
